I was in between life adventures in the year 2000, needed something creative to occupy my time, and happened into a stamp store in Springfield, Oregon, near where I was living then. The owners were offering classes and even though it was hard for me to imagine that I could possibly produce beautiful cards like the ones on display, I jumped right in and began learning.

Whenever one of my friends expresses an interest in taking up card making but says they doubt they have any talent for it, I tell her or him that I initially felt the same way. But once I started practicing basic techniques and experimenting on my own it was only a matter of time until I developed my own “style” and became more self-confident.

If I don’t absolutely adore a card that I’ve made for someone I won’t send it; in fact I ask people to send the card back if they get tired of it – no hard feelings – and I’ll put it in my “favorite card” scrapbook!

I took technical illustrating in college and headed up the art department in a printing company for 20 years.

Moved to Florida 10 years ago and took some stamping classes to meet friends.  Worked for 4 years in a scrapbook store and taught card making and scrapbooking classes.

Now I have a craft room set up for stamping.  I love “playing” with friends, learning new techniques and collecting lots of stamps and supplies.  It’s a wonderful way to relax and create.

This is my second appearance on Claire’s website and I thank her very much.

I’ve been stamping approximately nine years and am always learning something new and meeting lots of new friends.

One of our Great Impressions design team members had fun creating cards using the Novembers images.  We just wanted to share these with you.  We have 6 very talented ladies on our design team.  The design team is always promoting our stamps showing different ways to use the images, both old and new.  This is another great avenue for ideas for you too!

I have always been fascinated with the beauty of Asian Art.  During a recent trip to Japan, I was lucky enough to experience the elegance of the geisha, the delicacy of the cherry blossoms, the art of flower arranging, and the richness of the kimono.  I tried to capture some of that beauty in my greeting cards.

It’s Jean Satterfield again.  I thought I’d show you a few cards from some of my many techniques I’ve learned over the past 15 years.  Some techniques I’ve learned from my buddies in the Old City Stampers Club and some from magazines, the Internet, tapes & CD’s, classes, make & takes, and conventions I’ve attended.  It never ends, I hope!  Isn’t it wonderful that we have so many ways to learn, now if we could only find more hours in the day to play.

Thumping Technique

This card was created using a light color pad on the tree, then thumping with different colored markers.

Brayered Background

This card was created by stamping over a brayered background.

Stickers

This card was created using only stickers for illustration.

Photograph

This card was created by stamping directly onto a photograph.

Soda Can

This card was made using a soda can and die cuts, then coloring with permanent pens and wiping some away.

Diamond Glaze

This was created using Diamond Glaze and re-inkers on the back of acetate that was stamped.

My name is Lisa Harrison and paper crafting has always been a love of mine.  I enjoy creating scrapbooks and cards with a variety of mixed media products.  My favorite subject and greatest inspiration is my sweet son, Caden.

These cards were created using Elizabeth Crafts Peel-off stickers, Glitter Ritz Glitter, and Shimmer Sheets.  The glitter used on some of the cards is a small variety of Elizabeth Crafts many Glitter Ritz Colors.  Copic Markers were used to color on the popular Cool highlights Glitter Ritz.  The Shimmer Sheets was used for the die cut and embossed butterflies.  It was also used as a background colored with Tim Holtz Alcohol inks on one of the cards.
